Day 3: Barpak back to Kathmandu via Arughat

This route will be taken on the last two stages of e2e Challenge.

Leaving Barpak meant retracing yesterday’s tracks back down to the steep hillside to the valley floor, but not before we were given a traditional send off by our hosts, who blessed us with tikka and garlands for a safe journey.

A couple of bumpy hours later we diverted towards Arughat, a chance to validate one of the final parts of the route for e2e Challenge.  We suspected a former donkey track had been opened to a wider dirt road. This turned out to be the case, which is great news for cyclists and support crew!

The tough climbs will be easily forgotten as riders enjoy the staggering views, beautiful scenery, and many local well-wishers to encourage them to the end of each stage.
